Emmanuel – God With Us

Day Twenty-six – 12/25/14 – Thursday

Advent-Logo“So they . . . found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger” (Luke 2:16).

It’s Christmas! What have you found under your tree this morning? Maybe you’ve chosen to put the gifts aside and spend some time with God first. That’s okay, those gifts will wait. This is a wonderful day. Hundreds of millions of people are celebrating Christ right now. Many of them don’t understand what they are celebrating but I hope you do. Today we celebrate the day God’s Son, Jesus, was born in the lowest of conditions, over 2000 years ago. That event changed the world – I hope it’s changed your world, too.

In our passage, the shepherds went off and found the baby. The Angels had spoken and shared their message and they got the point. They went. Surely the shepherds had seen babies before. So why leave their sheep to find this particular baby? Because the angel had told them, “Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord.” So they found Him. Have you?

Today is a good day to remember that God is with us. Jesus, Emmanuel. As you gather around your tree, look for that special child born and placed in a manger. This is a story worth passing down to your children. It’s an event that can change their worlds. Your family needs to know that Jesus is available, today. God is with us and it’s often on days like Christmas when He is easiest to find. Don’t look any further, He’s right there lying in a manger. Christ our Savior is born!

Prayer: Lord, thank You that You are available to all who will seek You.

Merry Christmas!
